On February 24, the public is invited to the remembrance and support event “Path of Light for Ukraine”

The charitable association “Tavi draugi” invites everyone on Tuesday, February 24, at 6:30 PM to the traditional remembrance and support event “Path of Light for Ukraine,” honoring the victims of war and expressing support for Ukraine’s fight for freedom. The event will begin with a gathering at Dome Square at 6:30 PM and conclude with a symbolic light march to the Freedom Monument at 7:00 PM.

“Path of Light for Ukraine” will take place for the third year. All residents of Latvia are invited to participate by bringing their own sources of light — smartphones, flashlights, candles, and others. “We are convinced that light will overcome darkness. Our support for Ukraine is needed more than ever, and this is a symbolic opportunity to reaffirm it once again,” says Ulvis Noviks, head of “Tavi draugi.”

Program of the event “Path of Light for Ukraine”:

  • 6:30 PM – Gathering at Dome Square
  • 7:00 PM – Opening of “Path of Light for Ukraine” with symbolic addresses by the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia and “Tavi draugi”
  • 7:05 PM – Light march from Dome Square to the Freedom Monument
  • Around 7:20 PM – Closing of the event at the Freedom Monument with the national anthems of Latvia and Ukraine

To continue reminding the public of the support needed for Ukraine, on Tuesday, February 24, from 7:30 AM, a flash action “Together Until Victory!” will take place at the Freedom Monument. As part of it, until 8:00 PM, a donation point of the association “Tavi draugi” will operate near the Laima Clock, along with a Latvian and Ukrainian charity souvenir shop.

Residents are invited to bring to the donation point items needed by Ukrainian soldiers and civilians during winter conditions – chemical hand warmers, socks, knitted items, thermal underwear, tea, sweets, ready-to-eat packaged food, cold medicines, and other useful supplies.

In preparation for the flash action “Together Until Victory!”, on February 23 at 5:00 PM, a poster workshop will be held at the premises of the association “Tavi draugi” at 23 Lapeņu Street together with artist Dainis Rudens. Anyone will be able to create graffiti posters using stencils and draw slogans and images they find most appropriate. All necessary materials will be provided by the event organizers.
