Charity Screening to Present Documentary Film “Kherson: Human Safari”

On Friday, August 15, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in Riga at Kino Bize (Elizabetes Street 37-2), a charity screening of the feature-length documentary film “Kherson: Human Safari” will take place in support of Ukrainian civilians and defenders. The event is organized by the charity organization Tavi draugi in cooperation with the film’s creator, American war correspondent Zarina Zabrisky.

“Kherson: Human Safari” documents war crimes in Kherson, Ukraine, where a terror campaign known as “human safari” sees civilians hunted by drones operated by the aggressor. These remotely controlled attacks, carried out from across the Dnipro River, have been recognized as war crimes and crimes against humanity by both the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine and the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine.

The screening in Riga is part of a series of events by Tavi draugi supporting Ukrainian civilians and armed forces ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day on August 24. The screening is supported by Kino Bize, and proceeds from ticket sales will be directed to Tavi draugi’s humanitarian projects in Ukraine. Tickets for the screening are available in exchange for donations either online or at the venue before the screening.

The film’s director and producer is American war correspondent Zarina Zabrisky. “Kherson: Human Safari” features exclusive footage and testimonies from Kherson residents living under drone attacks. After the screening, a Q&A session will be held with Zarina Zabrisky. The film was created in collaboration with Ukrainian filmmakers and tells a story of trauma, survival, and resistance.

“Kherson endures despite Russia’s brutal war against innocent civilians. Zarina Zabrisky’s remarkable documentary reveals the lives of civilians being hunted by drones, displaced by war, and united in resistance. War must never become the new normal. This film is a call to global conscience,” says Hans Petter Midttun, former Norwegian military attaché to Ukraine.

Since its release in June this year, the film has attracted international attention and is supported by both the Kherson Military Administration and United24 Media – the official media platform of the Office of the President of Ukraine. The film is freely available online at www.khersonhumansafari.com, where it continues to raise awareness and help collect funds to save lives. Donations gathered through the project have already helped relocate families from dangerous zones to safety.
