“Tavi draugi” and “Latvijas Pasts” Launch a Knitting Campaign to Support Ukrainian Soldiers

The charity organization “Tavi draugi” and “Latvijas Pasts” (Latvian Post) are organizing their sixth charity campaign from October 31, 2025, to March 31, 2026, inviting residents of Latvia to prepare and donate knitted items for Ukrainian soldiers. Using its network of customer service centers, post offices, and the widest network of parcel machines in Latvia, “Latvijas Pasts” will deliver the donated knitwear to the “Tavi draugi” organization free of charge.

Winter warfare is especially cruel, as the cold becomes yet another enemy and obstacle in the fight for freedom. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine’s defenders have been requesting help during the cold season — asking for socks, chemical hand warmers, thermal underwear, tea, cold medicines, and other essentials that help them endure the winter hardships. Warm knitted socks, hats, scarves, and gloves are especially useful — not only providing physical warmth but also serving as a reminder of the care and solidarity of those who made them.

“Tavi draugi” and “Latvijas Pasts” invite everyone who enjoys handicrafts, has the necessary materials, and possesses the required skills to create various knitted items that will be delivered to Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines and in military hospitals. The recommended sock size is from 37 to 45, and it is best to use neutral or unobtrusive colors for the knitwear.

How to Donate and Send Knitted Items:

  • Knitwear donations can be sent using “Latvijas Pasts” blue parcel machines located across Latvia by choosing the most convenient location and registering the shipment beforehand at www.mans.pasts.lv. To ensure the shipment reaches its destination, perform the following steps on the parcel machine’s screen: Send → Paid via web → Enter number → enter the code TAVIDRAUGI → follow the on-screen instructions. Packages up to 39 × 38 × 58 cm in size and weighing up to 31.5 kg can be sent through the parcel machines.
  • Prepared knitted items can also be delivered to the nearest “Latvijas Pasts” customer service center or post office during working hours. They may also be handed over to a postman, if the customer is receiving other postal or payment services at home; however, the “Postman at Home” service cannot be used solely for handing over donations.
  • When sending a donation via parcel machine or delivering it in person, please label the package as follows:
Campaign “TAVIDRAUGI”, Ziemeļu iela 10, Mārupes novads, LV-1000. “Latvijas Pasts” will deliver the donated knitwear to “Tavi draugi”, Lapeņu iela 23, Rīga, from where it will be transported to Ukraine.

This is already the sixth knitting campaign organized by “Latvijas Pasts” and “Tavi draugi” in support of Ukraine.
Last year, Latvian residents donated and submitted over 10,000 kilograms of knitwear during the campaign, which “Tavi draugi” sorted and delivered to Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, tens of thousands of kilograms of knitwear made by people in Latvia have been sent to Ukraine.
