The charity organization “Tavi draugi” has concluded a series of creative and developmental activities called Your Story is My Story<\/em> for Latvian and Ukrainian children aged 7 to 12. The project ended with the premiere of an animated film created by the children themselves and a children’s improvisational theater performance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the active phase of Your Story is My Story<\/em>, from March 11 to 15, Latvian and Ukrainian children participated in various activities that helped them express their creativity and talents, develop teamwork skills, communicate in Latvian, and build friendships. Under the guidance of teachers Laura \u010caupale, Dace Liepa, M\u0101ra Lini\u0146a, and Reinis Lozda, the children engaged in imagination-stimulating activities.<\/p>\n

At the project’s conclusion, an improvisational theater performance took place, along with the premiere of the children’s animated film, an exciting quiz about Latvia\u2019s nature, geography, and traditions, a creative workshop, and an exhibition of children’s artwork. The animated film created by the children can be viewed here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Projects like Your Story is My Story<\/em> provide an opportunity for Latvian and Ukrainian children to develop their talents, explore the world, make friends, and showcase their creativity to others. The project was designed to balance individual performance\u2014sharing personal stories and creating their own animated characters\u2014with group work, where children crafted and presented a shared memory story as part of the final performance. We are delighted that, together with experienced educators, we were able to create joyful, activity-filled school holidays and showcase the children\u2019s achievements to their families and friends,” says Ren\u0101te Grund\u0161toka, representative of “Tavi draugi” and project leader of Your Story is My Story<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The project is financially supported by the Society Integration Fund, using funds allocated from the Latvian state budget. The organization “Tavi draugi” provides coordinated humanitarian aid to Ukrainian civilians in Latvia and Ukraine, organizing and coordinating the involvement of Latvian residents, organizations, and businesses in volunteer efforts. Before the outbreak of the full-scale war, the organization primarily supported families facing hardships in Latvia. However, since the first day of the war, its focus has shifted towards providing aid to Ukraine, including assisting Ukrainian war refugees at Latvia-Russia border checkpoints. “Tavi draugi” continues to support Latvian residents in need and provides crisis assistance upon request.
