The event will take place on September 16 at 6:30 PM at the charity\u2019s shop located at \u0122ertr\u016bdes Street 32, Riga. During the evening, William Burton McCormick will present his work, answer questions, and sign copies of his award-winning historical novels and thrillers. Admission is free, and the event will be held in English.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This autumn, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tavi draugi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is launching a new tradition \u2014 author evenings, which will feature writers from various genres. Proceeds from book sales will support charitable projects helping people in Ukraine and Latvia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">William Burton McCormick is a world traveler who has spent twenty years living in Ukraine, Latvia, Russia, Estonia, and the United Kingdom. He draws on personal experiences in his writing to educate and entertain readers worldwide. McCormick will share his journey from being an unpublished writer in the United States to becoming an internationally recognized author, nominated for both the Edgar Allan Poe and Dagger awards, with his work regularly featured in major global mystery and literary publications. He will also talk about his passion for telling the world about Latvia\u2019s 20th-century history, which is reflected in his first book published in Latvian \u2014 &#8220;Lenin&#8217;s Harem&#8221; (publisher: Zvaigzne ABC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the event, all of McCormick\u2019s books will be available for purchase in English \u2014 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Stranger from the Storm<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KGB Banker<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deeds of Darkness<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 as well as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lenin&#8217;s Harem<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Latvian. All proceeds from book sales will be donated to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tavi draugi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;s charity projects supporting Ukrainians in their homeland and in Latvia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The evening will be hosted by writer and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tavi draugi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> volunteer J\u0101nis Jo\u0146evs, and the event will be conducted in English. The author evening series will continue in October with an evening dedicated to J\u0101nis Jo\u0146evs himself.
